A first-of-its-kind bracket for the Olympic women's soccer tournament
Why let college hoops have all the fun? The GIST is launching its first-ever Olympic bracket challenge as the world's best women's soccer players go for gold β so you can have some skin in the game.

How to play
It's not just a gold medal on the line β here's how you can enter for a chance to win cash prizes with your picks.
- Once eight teams advance out of the group stage, pick your winners for the quarter-finals, semifinals, and gold medal match. You can enter up to three brackets β but make sure you fill them out completely.
- Points are awarded for every game picked correctly. The value increases per round (quarter-finals are worth 1 Point, while semifinals are worth 3 Points and the gold medal match is worth 5 Points).
- In the event of a tie, the GISTer who most closely predicts the total amount of stoppage time in the gold medal match wins.
- The deadline to submit a bracket is Saturday, August 3 at 2:59 p.m. ET, before the first quarter-final match begins.
- Check back to see how your bracket's doing on the live leaderboard.
- Winners will be announced in The GIST's Sports News newsletter and on The GIST's socials, so keep an eye out.
- Want more? Follow us, listen to our podcast, and subscribe to our newsletter for daily updates on all things Olympics, Monday through Friday. Bonne chance!
